From the President

A letter to our neighbors

A note from the President of the Country Place Community Association.

Neighbors,

It’s an honor to serve as your president, and an even greater one to call Country Place home.

Ours is a rare kind of neighborhood. We’re only minutes from town, yet we come home to tall trees, quiet roads, and a true country feel. Our lakes and parks are among the most beautiful in the area, and they’re a big reason new families are drawn here. Perhaps the best measure of Country Place is that so many of the children who grew up here have come back to raise families of their own.

I want to make sure that what we enjoy today is still here for the next generation. Our neighborhood was built in stages more than forty years ago, and the documents that guide us reflect that history. Phase I and Phase II live under different rules, our by-laws are outdated and haven’t kept pace with Texas law, and Lakeshore doesn’t have a proper easement or clear funding. None of this happened overnight, and it won’t be solved overnight. But I believe that working together, we can find solutions.

That work starts with modernizing our by-laws and refreshing the rules for our lakes and parks. From there, I hope to sit down with the owners along Lakeshore Drive to settle its right-of-way questions and build a fair, lasting way to fund the road, one that puts Lakeshore owners in charge of it. In time, I’d like to update the Phase II restrictions and open the door for Phase I owners to join them, with good reasons to do so if they choose. Each step will take patience, compromise, careful planning, and your voice.

As we go, you have my word that I’ll be transparent in all matters. There will be no hidden agendas and nothing planned behind closed doors. Whenever a change is proposed, I’ll explain what it does and why. Voting will be made as convenient as possible including online voting, which Texas law allows. When it comes time, you the members will make the final decision with your votes. I welcome your input and look forward to working with you on this challenging but worthwhile endeavor.

I truly believe there’s a path to one united neighborhood, and I’m grateful to walk it with you.

With thanks,

Rusty Jacks
